Useful Links

We all live in communities of one sort or another such as our Family, Village, or Church communities. St. John's has a family atmosphere, is a village chapel, and is part of a national church - the Methodist Church of Great Britain. This page of links expresses this interdependence of our people, and is offered as a service to visitors to our site. We hope you find it useful.

Links to just about everything that you may ever wish to know about Christianity can be found at Christianity-links.  Particularly useful for general information about Jesus and Christianity is the site re-Jesus.   The Bible, is available on-line in a variety of translations and with a searchable database.

If the existence of God is a concern then http://www.existence-of-god.com/index.html is very good  as is www.lookingforgod.com. Most national churches have their own website. The national site of the Methodist church is simply www.methodist.org.uk and Methodist Publishing has a good range of books and other resources.

Local churches

Methodist neighbours (on the net) are Marple Methodist church, Offerton Methodist Church and the churches of the Glossop circuit and of the Buxton circuit. Kings church, Chinley is also part of our (High Peak) circuit and meets as a cell group on Tuesday evenings.  Disley Baptist who are good friends of ours, is about 4 miles away from Hayfield.  We have a covenant with our local parish church - St. Matthew's ,with whom we work closely as Hayfield Christians Together. We also have good relations with St Mary’s Church, New Mills our nearest Roman Catholic church .
