"The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God's love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission."
The above quotation is taken from the national web site of the Methodist Church in the UK (http://www.methodist.org.uk) and expresses succinctly what the members of our village chapel are trying to do. You will also find an introduction to Methodism, on a further page of that site, and a description of where we fit within the Christian church as a whole.
There are around 6,300 Methodist Churches in Britain of which our little chapel is one. These churches have links with a total of about one million people in the UK and a total membership of about 350,000 (we have around 50 of them). Worldwide, the figure is around 70 million such people. It would be surprising if they all believed exactly the same thing!
THEY DON'T! But they all would all claim to be on a journey through life in which they feel, however weakly, that faith has a part to play, and that Jesus has some part in it. We doubt if any Methodist would claim to have all the answers, but we offer each other and anyone who cares to enquire, some clues about next steps on the journey, and often tentative but always helpful, explanations of what has happened before.
We invite you to take a journey of faith with us.
You may be asking all sorts of questions about where life is taking you. We all are!
